US-based Zach Frizzell is the creative force behind the zakè project. His warm drones and analog textures have shaped dozens of solo and collaborative albums, spanning a vast spectrum of atmospheres and tonalities.
Frizzell’s music blends classical training with bold experimentation, environments marked by sweeping melancholic swells and evolving textures. His approach to ambient is both meditative and dynamic—glimmering with artifacts, yet grounded by a gravitational stillness. Recognized as a pioneer of slow-evolving minimal drone, he employs archaic synths, field recordings, and tape machines to create solemn, drifting sounds for contemplative listening.
For Frizzell, music is a means of processing lived experience. Each album serves as a marker of time—a sentiment reflected in the name Past Inside the Present, the label he founded in 2018. Past Inside the Present in an independent record label dedicated to fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking artistic community.
