Más Tejas
Austin, Texas
Más Tejas is the musical moniker for Jared Chadwick. He is an artist and audio engineer based out of Austin, Texas whose work focuses on multimedia and audiovisual performances intended as meditative rituals. The goal is to explore how sound and light interact within physical spaces to create ephemeral moments where meaning is derived through individual perspective. He uses field recordings, drones, and live instrumental improvisations to create musique concrète and cinematic live scores for the visual storytelling elements, which includes analogue filmmaking, interactive media software, and projectors.
The name Más Tejas literally translates to “More Texas” but it represents a calling for ‘More Truth’ in the world after being inspired by the research of Dr. Jorge Luis García Ruiz in his book Texas: The False Origin of the Name. His research uncovers the authentic origins of the name of the state, which calls into question decades of indoctrination which is still employed to this day. It is important to honor the roots of history in order to be honest with ourselves for the sake of understanding and healing. This is at the heart of Más Tejas - a way to explore subjective and introspective realities through sound and scene.
