Casts
Chicago, Illinois
On a cold January evening, in a medical plaza in the suburbs, Casts began taking ketamine for treatment-resistant depression. They were told to create a playlist of instrumental and ambient music, and found familiar songs unfamiliar.
Researching changes in frequencies and tones that amplify the experience of the treatments, they started creating tones to accompany sessions. As a writer and former folk musician, Casts had to learn how to communicate without words. Through months of testing, Casts explored what was most effective in the moment and helped their recovery in the following days. Â
The resulting music is meant for both introspection and ego death acceptance.
